"Greg's Night Out" 9/24/2000

It started out as an ordinary might with the guys, as we hanged out at our favourite poolhall. We liked to think we could out play and even hustle one another out of a few dollars on a good night. We were definitely pathetic creatures most of the time but we enjoyed our time together playing a few games and downing a few beers.

Tonight was looking well, as I was actually winning a few games and my favourite waitress Sheila was working. We were actually exchanging conversation in between orders. Sheila was a pretty redhair who always had a smile for me whenever I entered the place.

I finally had the nerve tonight to ask her out after her shift was over. Luckily tonight was her early night and was off in the next twenty minutes. Just enough time to play one more round with the guys before I split with Sheila for the night.

As I was preparing to break, there was a loud crash of glass being shattered in the air as glass flew by. Next moment we see two motorcyclesriding through the place as people and tables drove by. People trying to duck out of the way, not to be in the way, as mayhem unleashed. Two burly men abruptly stopped their motorcycles and then preceed to fire shots indiscriminately in the air.

I barely had time to duck as stray bullets was fired in my direction. I notice Sheila was closeby and was in shock as she just stood there in a trance. So I tackled her to the floor covering my body over her before the next round.

"Hope I didn't hurt you, Sheila.". as I moved my weight slowly off her warm, petite body.

"Ummm, it's okay Greg. Thanks, I guess I was just in a state of shock. These guys don't look too friendly."

"That's an understatement!", as I look around as the gun fire stopped for reloading.

"We need to get out of here and get help. The door isn't too far away from us.", as Sheila survey the situation.

"But we can't draw attention to ourselves or we could end up dead."

"I know. We have to find the right moment to make our move when they are distracted."

"Definitely Sheila! A start to a date that you wont forget", I chuckled.

"Most definitely Greg. You just know how to make a date quite memorable.", smiles Sheila.

"You can't say we have boring dates. Ha ha ha."

"If we live through this mess."

"Here is our moment.", as one of the motorcycle guys gets into a fight with the owner. As I grab Sheila's hand as we made a mad dash out of the place and run to my car. Sirens are starting to be heard as we entered in my car and fled the scene.

"We really should not have left the scene of a crime."

"I know but we saw the police was arriving and so far no one was seriously hurt."

"So far. Hopefully the guys will surrender peacefully, so it will remain that way."

"And on that happy thought, what would you like to do now on our date?", I smiled.

"Good question. Somewhere without too much action."

"Okay let see, there is this new comedy movie that just came out and we still have like fifteen minutes before it starst."

"Sounds great. I could use a laugh."

We found two empty seats in the middle of the movie theatre armed with popcorn and sodas with no time to spare before the trailers began. Thankfully it allowed us to get our minds off the adventure at the poolhall.

We were enjoying the movie laughing our heads off and when each other was not looking, toss accidently a few stray popcorn at each other. Becoming more frequent as each minute passed. We were getting a little out of hand and wearing a good bit of each other's popcorn on our clothes and hair when we heard the person in front of us gasping for air. They tried to stand up but almost keeled over choking.

Sheila before I knew it jumped down and before I knew it she was performing Heimlich Manoeuvre. The man suddenly started coughing as she steps aside.

"Thank you ma'am. Guess a piece of popcorn went down the wrong way. Should be careful when laughing and eating."

"You are welcome, sir.", as she jumps back over and takes her seat.

"Nice job Sheila.", as we held hands.

"It was not anything.", Sheila whispers and snuggles next to me as we watched the end of the movie.

"After the movie, the guy with his date approach us at the outside of the theatre.

"Can I buy you two a drink for saving my life?"

"It's okay, you don't have to buy as a drink. I did what anybody would have done in that situation."

"But you were the one who managed to do it though. This is my card, if you ever need anything or even need a lawyer call me.", as he hands Sheila a business card and she sticks it in her pocket without looking at it as he leaves with his date.

"It was nice of him to offer the drinks. Hope you didn't mind the lack of a free drink but it's been a long night and I don't think we need any alcohol."

"No problem. I wasn't in the mood either and also share your company."

"Sweet talker you. You wont mind that we end this date soon since I am exhausted."

"I understand Sheila. It has been a long day. I'll take you home."

Walking up the stairs to Sheila's apartment, the sky was bright as millions of stars shone.

"Thanks for a lovely night Greg. I had a goodtime really despite everything.", as she turns to him and smile.

"I had a goodtime also. Perhaps we can have dinner soon, one night when you are off and I promise no gunfire."

"How about dinner next Wednesday then? I have the day off."

"Sounds good.", as he holds her hand.

"And to guarantee a quiet dinner, I'll even make you a homecooked dinner. Is eight a good time?", as she looks into my eyes.

"Perfect.", As I first kiss her on the cheek and then our lips met for a long goodnight kiss.

I watched as she enters her apartment and blew me a kiss and closes the door. I watch the lights flicker on and heard the clicking of locks before I slowly drifted to my car.

It was definitely some night that I wont simply forget too soon. But most of all, I shall remember the warmth and sweetness of Sheila's kiss on my lips.
